DIRECTOR OF TECHNICAL DESIGN Sleepwear manufacturer is seeking a lead technical designer to supervise all aspects of fit, grading, marking, and construction of women’s sleepwear. Applicant must be qualified to create written and illustrated apparel specifications including technical sketches, construction details, and graded specs. Create first patterns as needed and evaluate in-house and suppliers’ sample garments for fit and construction detail. Communicate/guide suppliers daily. Advise Quality Control regarding testing and standards for approval of fabrics and findings to be used in production. Computer skills: Gerber AccuMark, Microsoft Word, Excel, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in fashion design or related technical degree.
• Textile Science a plus.
• 5-10 years work experience in the apparel industry including technical design and/or patternmaking.
• Excellent oral, visual, and written communication skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Ability to multi-task, proactively trouble shoot, and problem solve.
